2020 Ormewood Park Makers Festival Update
Dear Neighbors…
The Ormewood Park Makers Festival has recently transitioned to SAND (South Atlantans for Neighborhood Development). The goal of this transition is to mirror the structure of other neighborhood festivals, and to raise money to give back to the community like other Atlanta neighborhood festivals are able to do for their communities (the East Atlanta Strut, for example). The date for the 2020 Ormewood Park Makers Festival has been tentatively scheduled for Saturday, March 28th, 2020.
For those that are not familiar with SAND, SAND is an umbrella organization that was formed in 1979 to serve the residents and businesses of the South East Atlanta neighborhoods situated between Grant Park and East Atlanta (Benteen Park, Boulevard Heights, Glenwood Park, Custer McDonough-Guice, North Ormewood Park, Ormewood Park, and Woodland Hills). As part of the transition some of our volunteers who helped put on the festival the past two years have decided to pass on the festival to a new group of volunteers. This new group includes volunteers who have been part of the festival committee in years prior, and other volunteers who will be bringing their energy and fresh perspective to the festival.
We'd like to thank the volunteers of years past, especially Hannah Thompson, for their countless hours spent and weekends sacrificed to help start this new, wonderful tradition for Ormewood Park and greater Atlanta.
