NPU-W Public Safety Committee Larceny Maps

One of the NPU-W Public Safety Committee 2021 projects is to provide relevant crime data to the three neighborhood associations for their use and distribution.

Below are links to four PFG files for the months of July, August, September and October 2021 which show where larceny from vehicles has been reported to APD. Each file shows a map for the respective month, for the number of reported incidents from January 2021 to the respective month, and for Jan to Dec 2020 as a point of comparison.

Larceny from vehicle (the FBI lingo for stuff being stolen from a vehicle) is by far the numerically highest "crime" that happens in Atlanta.

Citywide, to date there have been more than 6,300 cases of larceny from vehicle reported. Not every incident is reported and under-reporting could be as high as 30% under-reported (based on studies conducted in other US cities).

By comparison, there have been just over 1,300 burglaries reported for the same time period (FBI lingo for stuff being stolen from a residence or business). Larceny from vehicle is six times higher than burglary at present.

Feedback and comments for the NPU-W Public Safety Committee are welcomed.
